Weight Loss Through The Chakras
When we look at our energy-system, we see where energies are stuck or stagnant, or overactive and scattered.
An energetic perspective gives you a new way of looking at old issues.
For example- the first chakra, also known as the "root" chakra, is located right around the tailbone.
Chakras are not actual structures, but energies that influence the body, the mind, and the overall energetic flow - our energy effects how we are feeling in any given moment- and it changes depending on our health, our environment, our past experiences, and who we are around at the moment.
The first chakra, the root chakra, is the foundation of our energy system.
It influences issues around survival and security, how we choose to live on the planet, issues around finances and prosperity.
When it is "balanced" we feel very secure in the world, knowing that we are safe and can have our needs met reasonably, our finances are balanced and we feel stable.
Problems in the first chakra show up as fear- fear around security, finances, having "enough", being "enough".
There are often first chakra issues and imbalances in people with eating disorders- Excessive energies here will lead to problems with heaviness and overweight, bigger bodies, difficulties with making changes, "getting going", living in good self-care, and so forth.
One of the ways to improve the energy and balance in the first chakra is to find ways of staying grounded.
Being grounded refers to feeling connected to your body, as well as being able to connect to the grounded energies of the earth element.
One thing I suggest to my clients to become better grounded is to learn to sit with their feet flat on the floor.
Even better is to have bare or only stocking feet.
Any time you think of it, press your feet into the floor, making full contact.
Feel the connection-This counteracts our culture's "mind over matter" imbalance.
We suffer and are unable to manifest in our lives when we are "out" of our bodies, or not grounded.
When you take a minute to notice your feet, sending energy into them and downward, you can also imagine that you are "growing roots"- imagine sending roots from the soles of your feet downward and connecting right into the earth.
Doing this keeps you embodied- and on the road to healing some of the imbalances in your first chakra.
