How to Make an Origami Puppet
- 1). Fold the paper in half widthwise. The open edges of the paper should face left, creating two flaps.
- 2). Fold the left side of the top flap so that it lines up with the right edge of the paper. Make a crease. Flip the paper over and repeat this. There should be two sections of paper flat on the table with two more standing in a tent shape between them.
- 3). Fold the lower left corner upward until it lines up with the nearest crease. Fold the upper left corner down until it lines up with the nearest crease. Fold the entire section of paper against the nearest standing section.
- 4). Fold the lower right corner upward until it lines up with the nearest crease. Fold the upper right corner down until it lines up with the nearest crease. Fold the entire section of paper against the nearest standing section.
- 5). Unfold the right flap of paper and flatten the left tent section. Fold the lower left corner until it lines up with the nearest crease. Repeat this with the upper left corner.
- 6). Fold the paper in half, creating a trapezoid shape. Turn the paper so that the longest side is the base. Fold the lower left corner right until it meets the lower right corner. Make a crease and unfold the paper. Tear a small rip at the crease, about 1/8 inch long.
- 7). At the rip, fold the inner left corner up until it is at a 45-degree angle. Repeat this with the inner right corner of the rip. Flip the project over and repeat this on the opposite side. The result is a boat shape.
- 8). Open the bottom of the boat shape and close it at the creases, creating a mouth that can be manipulated open and closed. The puppet is now complete.
