Thermofluids laboratory experiments focus on research to develop more energy efficiency systems with fewer environmental impacts. The development of these thermofluid energy efficiency devices will support the Earth's future energy needs. Thermofluid equipment can range from equipment used in large industries, such as the automotive industry or petrochemical industry, or in schools and domestic households for heating and cooling. - An HVAC system is a type of thermofluid equipment that is a heat pump and energy recovery ventilator. This piece of equipment maintains air quality through its ventilation system and filtration to provide different levels of temperatures. HVAC systems consume large amounts of energy and affect water consumption. Engineering research laboratories and companies conduct research to create HVAC equipment with energy saving efficiency.
- Centrifugal pump convert input power to kinetic energy in a liquid using an impeller, which is a revolving device. The kinetic energy formed from the is transferred to the liquid. The faster the impeller rotates, the greater the velocity of the liquid energy to be transferred.
- Hydrostatic benches are used to study the properties and behavior of liquids under hydrostatic conditions. The bench is a compact piece of equipment that can be moved. The lower portion of the bench usually contains the water tank. Different accessory devices can be attached to the bench, including a manometer, hydrostatic pressure device, fluid level meter, air pumps, water pumps and a hydrometer.
- Flowmeters measure the rate of flow of a thermoliquid at various flows, including linear, nonlinear, mass or volumetric flow. Some flow meters are used for air as well; therefore, your flow meter should be specifically for liquids.
