Is coffee bad for you?
I have written this article to answer a question that is not often asked but many of you will be surprised to know the answer to. I personally go through 8-10 coffess a day so this article may come as a relieve for some including me.
If anything were to affect us it would be the caffeine in the coffee as this is the only property which does affect us mentally as well as physically. Many people from all over the world wake up to a fresh cup of coffee or tea to stimulate us before heading out and carrying out our day to day duties, and for some it's a complusory need that benefits how our day unfolds.
First of all lets state the facts about coffee itself:
1)A 170ml cup of brewed coffe (Drip feed) contains 150mg of caffeine
2)Instant coffee contains 65mg of caffeine. Your standard Nescafe, kenco etc.
3)For a standard decaffinated cup of coffee contains up to 35mg of caffeine per cup.
Scientist from all over the world have conducted experiments that could possibly proove that caffeine in coffee and tea can actually benefit us if taken in at an adequate amount daily. Some of these interesting results I am going to share with you.
1)Drinking at least 3 cups of coffee per day can reduce the risk of liver disiease by up to 50%
2)Coffee has been found to protect you from the deadly desiase liver cirrhosis, which is normally associated with drinking too much alcohol.
3) Drinking at least 3 cups of coffee per day also reduced the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease by up to 40 %.
Some interesting facts dont you think? Also I would like to mention that another recent experiment was conducted that concluded that healthy elderly people that consumed between 3-4 cups of coffee or tea a day were less likely to form any sign of brain diesease in there later years.
For those that dont know, caffeine acts as a stimulant to the heart and central nervous sytem. It does this by elevating our blood pressure ever so slightly, this explains the positive feeling after having a cup or coffee before starting the day. It must be mentioned that this increase in blood pressure has been found to cause no long term effects to the average person, but this is still to be concluded by scientists.
On that note It's safe to assume that you can carry on having your daily dose of coffee or tea without worrying about what could happen, but if you are anything like me, I stick by my rule..surely too much something good is bad for you?
