Using American Flags for a Patriotic Holiday

When Independence Day rolls around, how is your town or community preparing for the event? Typically, Fourth of July involves a parade and, in many areas, fireworks in the evening.
As an event to celebrate the country's independence, Fourth of July is the perfect occasion for American flags.
Displayed all over town, full-size banners may fly from poles and lamp posts and later be included in a parade.
The spectators, as well, are proud of their country, and many wave smaller flags to show their pride.
Retailers of flags carry American, state, and international flags and often sell them in large quantities for such celebrations.
American flags, however, vary in make, although the exterior appearance is the same.
Made out of cotton, polyester, or nylon, certain flags may be better suited for the outdoors, while others are better inside.
Additionally, the stars and stripes may be stitched together for a sturdier design, or they may be printed onto the material.
If American flags are being kept outdoors for several days at a time, a sturdier design is necessary.
Otherwise, the banner will begin to fade and fray and will need to be retired.
In order to get the most use of an outdoor flag, a durable material, such as polyester or nylon, is best, and all stars and stripes should be stitched together.
If your town or community displays American flags around town a few days before the holiday, stitched nylon or polyester banners have the longest lifespan.
Small stick or hand flags for spectators, however, do not need as durable construction, as such flags are used only in this instance.
Stick American flags are a small banner with the stars and stripes printed on cotton or polyester and attached to a wooden or plastic stick.
Such flags only need to be used for the occasion and do not need to withstand the elements.
