A human eye may have many problems such as refractive errors, cataract, squint, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and corneal external eye diseases. All of these eye problems lead to the poor vision or the complete vision loss. Among the above said eye problems "refractive errors" are most often found problems. Refractive errors are generally not too dangerous during the initial stage but if not treated well on time these may affect the vision badly or the complete vision loss.

Take a look at the types of refractive errors.

Myopia – It is also known as nearsightedness – during this condition the patients can see the things clearly close to them but if they try to see the distant objects they feels the blurry vision. This condition occurs when the eye ball is somewhat longer than the normal size or it might be curving sharply.

Hyperopia – It is known a farsightedness, this condition is opposite to the myopia or nearsightedness and occurs when the eye ball is smaller in size or the cornea might be very flat and focusing the light behind the retina instead of on the retina. In this condition the patients feels the blurry vision while looking at the close objects and far placed objects can be seen clearly.

Presbyopia – This condition occurs to the aged people and also increases with the age, during this condition the patients feels the blurry vision and unable to focus on the objects.

Astigmatism – During this condition cornea causes some focus problems.

There are many treatment options available for the treatment of refractive errors but having a laser lasik surgery is the best option because it is a modern way of treating the vision problem and the widely accepted. Although there are some risks of lasik surgery but if you choose a good lasik surgeon and take care of post surgery things then you will never feel any complication.

If a patient does not feel the too much effect of any of the refractive error the contact lenses or the eye glass can be enough to overcome the vision loss due to refractive error, but if refractive errors are bothering you then a surgery is the only treatment available.

After examining the type and degree of error you are suffered from, the eye specialist take some other necessary steps to check your eligibility to perform the surgery procedure because a lasik surgery cannot be performed to everyone like a diabetes patient, a pregnant women or a person, a person aged less than 18 years or the person suffering from any other eye disease.

During the lasik surgery the shape of the cornea is changed by removing or adding a specific amount of corneal tissues. The amount of the corneal tissues is determined before the surgery using a computerized system. Sometimes due to human error this amount is not determined accurately which may cause the "over correction" or the "under correction" and a follow up eye surgery is required to solve the problem. Some of the lasik surgeons offer this follow up surgery for free but some may charge you for this.
