    Create an Album

    • 1). Cut two pieces of poster board to measure the size you would like the album to be. Standard scrapbook albums measure 12 inches by 12 inches, 8 inches by 8 inches and 6 inches by 6 inches. You could also make miniature albums in small square sizes or shapes.

    • 2). Cover each piece of the poster board with decorative or colored paper to create a cover and a back. Make sure to glue paper to both the front and back of the poster board pieces.

    • 3). Punch three holes, evenly apart, about 1 inch in from the left side of the cover. Repeat with the back of the album.

    • 4). Stack several plastic page protectors, the same size as the album, on top of the back cover. Place the front cover on top of the stack and then line up the holes.

    • 5). Slide the jump rings through all of the holes and then squeeze the rings closed with pliers.

    • 6). Fill the page protectors with your scrapbook pages.

    Design 3-D Embellishments

    • 1). Lightly trace designs onto a sheet of poster board using a pencil. Draw the designs by hand or use stencils to create the shapes instead. Consider making alphabets, bubble words and shapes like hearts, flowers and animals.

    • 2). Cut the stenciled designs out of the poster board using a craft knife.

    • 3). Paint the embellishments with acrylic paint. Create solid colors or add polka-dots, lines or decorative accents.

    • 4). Decorate the painted embellishments with glitter, sequins, gems, feathers or miniature paper flowers.
