When you using colors, either on paper, or on clothes or in that case may be a webpage, you cannot randomly pick any color and use it to combine with another randomly picked color.
There are rules that need to be followed when playing with colors.
Random selection might look good by luck, but most of them might not look appealing.
Therefore, you have to keep the following points in mind before you splash your favorite color on the canvas or you webpage.
oThe first most important thing to remember is the three different kinds of colors.
The primary, the secondary, and the intermediate colors.
The primary colors are those of the color wheel.
Secondary colors are formed by combing two primary colors.
Example- Blue + Red = Purple.
Intermediate color is the combination of primary color with a secondary color.
Example- Red + Purple = Red-Purple.
oHue is color itself, real shade, nothing apart from this.
oSaturated colors have less black in it.
oMonochromatic schemes help you create an enormous and calm effect.
oDifferent bright colors could be used for emphasizing anything.
oFor calm appearances, use colors that are close together on the color chart.
oTo create movements, primary hues with shades will help you create a dramatic effect.
oTo direct your viewer's attention towards a composition, use contrasting colors to show texture.
Never forget the value of the relationship of dark colors with that of light colors.
oBlack and white are neutral colors.
Dark colors added to primary colors, make them look darker.
White colors added to primary colors, make them look lighter.
oColors adjoining one another on the color wheel blend perfectly creating a sense of harmony.
oYellow, orange, and red are the warm colors.
These colors add vigor and warmth.
They make the objects appear as though they moving toward the viewer, compacting the entire space.
oGreen and blue are the cool colors.
They seem to fall back and recede from the viewers, giving a very cool and relaxing feeling.
oThe wheel of color is not a formula that can guide you with color combination.
It just helps you to know how different colors relate to one another.
Combining colors is not an easy task.
Artists might spend years to get their own color pallette.
oMost colors have emotional and psychological effects.
Random selection will not produce a good effect.
oThe colors opposite each other in the color wheel make good combinations.
oColors also have intensity, power, and strength.
Colors of high intensity are brilliant, pure, and bright.
Colors of low intensity are dull, quiet, and serious.
oPaper's color also affects the appearance and color of the ink.
