Affairs of the Heart Are Not Always Unhealthy

Have you ever wondered which is the most important organ in the human body? You may or may not have asked yourself the question: which is more important, my heart or my brain? Regardless of what you read, there is perhaps no definite and single organ in the body that can be classed as the "most" important, primarily because the human body, the organism, functions as an interlinked network of the different organs which all have their individual functions culminating to produce both you and I.
However, what is clear is that the heart is the "battery" to our "electrical circuit" and without a functioning heart; a human would struggle to survive.
This alone tells us that a healthy heart is therefore vital to our survival.
Therefore naturally we must now look at how we would define a "healthy" and an "unhealthy" heart.
Would we say that a healthy heart is one in which pumps blood around the body to all organs and tissues? Well yes, in essence this is the role of the heart, to deliver oxygen and other blood components to cells around the body to enable them to survive and function.
However, this does not exactly enable us to define exactly what a "healthy" heart is, as equally an "unhealthy heart" still pumps blood around the body (albeit to a lesser extent).
The point I am making here, without going into too much scientific detail about Cardiac Output, Starling's Law, issues of infarction and the complications of cardiovascular disease such as Heart failure is that unlike other organs, where when something is not functioning correctly, it is quite clearly and quickly visible, the heart does not tend to present any problems with itself until the issues have progressed to their later stages, when it may be too late.
Maintaining a health heart with exercise and good eating regime will result in a smooth running machine and a longevity.
