    Configurations

    • The rear-wheel drive Chrysler Crossfire was offered in three different trim levels: Base, Limited and SRT-6. All three trim levels were offered in convertible and coupe body styles. The Crossfire offered seating for two people, regardless of the chosen body style.

    Base and Limited Engine

    • The Crossfire Base and Limited trims on both the coupe and convertible body styles were powered by a 3.2-liter V-6 engine with an 18-valve single overhead camshaft design. At the heart of this naturally-aspirated motor were cylinders with a 3.54-inch bore, 3.31-inch stroke and a compression ratio of 10-to-1. Output for this base level engine was rated at 215 horsepower at 5,700 rpm and 229 foot-pounds of torque at 3,000 rpm.

    SRT-6 Engine

    • The SRT-6 version of the Crossfire was aimed at the sporting enthusiast and was based around the Kompressor model of the Mercedes SLK. The SRT-6 eschewed the natural aspiration of the base engine in favor of the power benefits provided by forced-air induction. This supercharged motor produced 330 horsepower at 6,100 rpm and 310 foot-pounds of torque, marking a notable improvement over the power of the naturally-aspirated engine.

    Dimensions

    • The Crossfire shared similar dimensions with its competitors, the BMW Z3, and the Mercedes SLK, its corporate cousin. Chysler's Crossfire sat on a compact, 94.5-inch wheelbase, with an overall vehicle length of just 159.8 inches. The dimensions stayed the same for both the convertible and coupe variants of the vehicle, with the only difference being the convertible having an overall height that sat just 0.3 inches taller -- a marginal difference, not noticeable to the naked eye. The coupe offered a modest 7.6 cubic feet of luggage space, while the convertible's cargo capacity was even more scant, at just 6.5 feet.

    Performance

    • The naturally-aspirated Chrysler Crossfire offered its driver a top speed of 150 mph, a zero-to-60 mph acceleration time of 6.8 seconds and the agility to complete the quarter-mile in 15.1 seconds at 93.7 mph. The supercharged SRT-6 model topped out at 158 mph and was capable of reaching 60 mph from a stop in just 5.2 seconds.
