Adware program refers to software that recurrently displays advertisements from different companies.
The advertisements that pop-up are based on the sites that are frequently visited by the user.
If correctly installed, an adware first asks the user permission for installation.
Then it will also tell the user the contents of the site and the activities it will perform.
Adware were developed originally for the purpose of advertising but it has been used maliciously by some people.
More often than not, users do not know that it is being installed in their computer because it is bundled with other software and downloaded automatically.
So one has to be careful in reading the terms and conditions of software before installing it.
After an adware program is installed, it becomes a danger to the performance of the computer because it will interrupt activities by continuously displaying pop-ups even if not connected to the internet.
When the browser is replaced with offensive content or you are redirected to another website, then this may be an indication that you have it installed in your system.
A particular adware called the spyware has the ability to make changes in your computer.
The information in the computer may also be compromised because spywares can report information back to other source.
This type can be destructive over time.
More often, an adware is installed by a Trojan horse that also downloads many malicious programs on a computer.
After some time, these programs will eat up a lot of resources affecting the computer's performance.
And when this happens, too much pop-up appear and normal activity will be almost impossible.
Too much spyware and adware can even prevent the installation of software that is intended to disinfect the system and may need a complete restoration of the system.
An adware is not all bad because it can help us find products that we like.
But to make sure that nothing bad will happen to your computer, be sure to install an antivirus and a firewall to protect your information.
