Women perform abdominal exercises for many reasons. Some want to look sexy and attractive to men, some want the pride and confidence of feeling good and looking good in whatever clothes they happen to wear. Also they have the pride of achieving their goals and the fact they worked hard to get there.

What is the best way to loose fat and develop the body you desire? Well women tend to gain fat on their buttocks and thighs as well as their belly so these areas have to be targeted as well as the abdominals themselves. Exercises such as walking are ideal as a low-intensity exercise and do not require that you join a gym or pay for any special exercise equipment. Walking faster and eventually progressing to jogging can increase the intensity. This is one of the fastest ways to burn off stored fat as well as to tone your thighs and hips.

For direct abdominal exercises themselves, I recommend doing crunches rather than traditional sit-ups. To do these lie on your back with your knees bent, fold your hands across your chest and raise your shoulders off the floor and "crunch" your abs. Do this slowly and in control, i.e. lowering your shoulders slowly rather than just letting them fall to the floor. Do as many as you can, rest for a minute and then perform another set. You need to work up to 3 sets to get the most benefit from this exercise.

There are several other abdominal exercises that can be performed which will add variety to your workouts. Exercises such as various types of leg raises (lying, hanging, etc) are also excellent in helping you achieve beautiful midsection quickly. A good abdominal course will greatly enhance your results, as well as providing motivation.

Of course, diet is half of the plan in any program to achieve sexy flat abs, and you must be careful what you eat in order to strip away the fat showing your new trim waistline. Essentially common sense eating habits and cleaning up you diet by removing junk food and replacing them with fresh healthy foods is the basic plan. Combined with this you should develop the mindset and determination to stick to your goals and achieve a good looking set of abdominals for yourself. It may take about three weeks for results to start showing but then the y quickly escalate and results start to come faster. Good luck in achieving your new midsection.
