Ladies, should you raise your glasses in celebration? Did you ever think your weight loss photos might look better if you were holding a cocktail? Did you ever think alcohol might actually be better for you in terms of your weight? Well, if you have thought this, please read on.
Here comes confirmation.
If you haven't, then please read on because here's some news to consider.
There is new research from a prestigious Boston hospital that shows women who drank one to two alcoholic drinks a day were 30 percent less likely to gain weight than those who did not.
Dr Lu Wang is an epidemiologist at the highly respected Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.
In conducting this research, Dr.
Wang studied roughly 20,000 women in the U.
S.
who were 39 years of age or older, and who had average body weight.
The study required the women to list their drinking habits and their weight gain for an average of 13 years.
The findings of the study showed that on average, all of the women tended to gain weight over the 13 year time frame.
However, the women who gained the most weight were the ones who abstained from drinking alcohol.
The results also showed that the more alcohol women drank, the less weight they gained.
Dr.
Wang voiced some opinions on the findings of the study in the new issue of the Archives of Internal Medicine.
This study on the effects of alcohol and weight loss for women is the latest evidence to spark the debate among healthcare researchers and practitioners.
Prior studies have indicated that women who consume alcohol in moderation are at a lower risk for heart disease.
But other research has shown that moderate drinking of alcohol in women may actually increase the risk for breast, liver and other cancers.
No one is recommending that alcohol becomes a centerpiece of your daily existence.
A diet based on nutrition not cocktails is still the best road to the weight loss photos of your dreams.
