Turkish Airlines is more powerful than ever and is a member of the Star Alliance group.
They operate 130 international flight routes and 41 domestic routes, making a total of 171 destinations they fly to.
Taking off from Ataturk International Airport, which is their main base of operations, their planes travel all over the world, from Africa to Europe and Asia to North and South America.
Their revenue and the number of passengers carried have increases significantly every year for the past four years.
Their revenue was a total of 2.
2 billion USD for 17 million passengers served in 2006.
They enjoyed an excellent year in 2009, with more than 25 million passengers flying with Turkish Airlines, resulting in a total revenue of 4 billion US dollars.
Yet one more US flight gateway was added in June, 2010 for Turkish Airlines.
This latest expansion brings the total number of US originated gateways to three with non-stop air travel from Washington DC to Istanbul, Turkey.
There will be 4 flights each week coming of Dulles Int Airport.
The Airbus A330 is the preferred airliner.
The move indicates that the Airlines continues to give Americans the chance to see the beauty of Turkey.
Quite naturally, it can be said that Istanbul possesses both a blend of modern city and old world history.
In addition, there are plans for a fourth gateway that is planned for March 2011 that will begin in Los Angeles CA and stop in Istanbul.
Turkish Airlines was also busy during the summer of 2010.
In July 2010, The airline signed a 5 year deal with Euro league which stated that it would sponsor the global European basketball competition.
The new name for the basketball association will be changed to the Turkish Airlines Euro league basketball for the season that is coming up soon.
This really should not be that much of a surprise to those who know all about the company's plans of marketing.
Turkish Airlines knows how much sports interests and reaches a lot of people.
Everyone who flies is a part of everything that is going on.
It appears that US passengers can take advantage of flying with Turkish Airlines from either sides of the country.
This expands travel options and makes reaching new destinations easy.
The airline has, or soon will be, offering multi-weekly services to Washington DC and Los Angeles, both of which are major hubs for international travel.
