What Makes a Mini-Fashionista?

We are all used to hip, Hollywood celebrities and supermodels bringing us up to par on the latest in fashion, parading on the red carpet and runways wearing the latest collections by the world's best fashion designers.
But what happens when it's their pint-sized counterparts who are stealing the spotlight with their own brand of fierce fashion? Being a Hollywood kid these days isn't just being the son or daughter of famous parents anymore.
Hollywood kids these days are also fashion trendsetters, kids who like their famous parents elicit a variety of reactions for their fashion choices.
Who doesn't marvel upon learning that 6-year old Suri Cruise owns $150,000 worth of shoes, has been photographed many times wearing lipstick and heels or that her personal wardrobe is estimated to be worth around $2M? Following a close second in the little wonders department would probably be Harlow Madden, who at four years old already has a jewelry line named after her or Harper Beckham, who despite being only 10 months old had already been offered her first modeling job.
Oh and let's not forget Kardashian kid Mason Disick who was recently voted "trendiest tot", beating out Suri Cruise by a whopping 10%.
The trend of teens and toddlers landing spots on the best-dressed lists as their famous parents is more evident now more than ever, especially since it seems that they've actually beaten their famous parents in the number of times their names appear on the lists.
With superstar parents loaded with truckloads of money, perhaps it is easy for these top tots to step out in style.
But then again if you did have superstar parents with truckloads of money, maybe stepping out in style is your birthright.
While most people see this as a phase children go through all the time, the volume and magnitude to which this is brought by the media makes it something normal parents wouldn't condone for their own children.
Many parents feel that as positive role models, fashionable Hollywood kids just aren't fitting the bill.
So in your opinion, what makes a real mini-fashionista? Personal preference and attitude for one, is something that definitely shouldn't be ruled out.
Even Hollywood parents feel that one of the secrets to their stylish offspring's success is letting them wear what they want.
Children are naturally curious and experimental creatures and as such, they should be allowed to express themselves in whatever way they wish because it's part of growing up.
The fact that Hollywood kids' styles are such a hot and trending topic on social media is an indication of how flawed society is as far as judging and putting labels on people are concerned.
With so much store set by physical appearance, what do you expect our kids to learn about preferring inner beauty? Allowing a child to be creative is also helping them form their own identity.
For Hollywood kids, this can be a challenge considering how large the shadow their famous parents cast.
But for normal kids, those who grow out of the spotlight, this is easy as pie.
Perhaps the fact that no one really minds what they wear and knowing that the outfit they choose for the day isn't going to become tomorrow's headlines makes it easy for them to be themselves and carry off their personal styles well.
Hip and cool after all can be summed up in one word: swag.
In Hollywood-speak, swag means to experiment and combine different styles and having the attitude to pull it off.
While normal kids have different fashion views than that of their Hollywood counterparts, there is one premise that they have in common, and that is to be able to wear clothes that are comfortable and ones that they like.
Liking what you wear, whether it's a designer creation, bought off the rack at the local mall or purchased online, is the key to having fashion sense.
Putting together looks that appeal to your personal preferences definitely gives you swag.
Being fashionable at any age doesn't have to come with a hefty price tag, but loads of positive attitude, an eye for detail and the chutzpah to carry it off, your child can pass for a fashionable Hollywood kid any day.
Just let them be.
