Sewing a Wipe Case Holder
- 1). Machine wash and dry both fabrics to preshrink them. Pre-shrinking your fabrics prevents warped seams when you wash the holder.
- 2). Cut an 11 1/2 by 19 1/2-inch rectangle from each piece of fabric. Put the two rectangles together with the right sides of the fabric facing each other. Sew the two rectangles together along all four edges with a 1/2-inch seam allowance, leaving a 4-inch opening in the center of one 11 1/2-inch edge.
- 3). Turn the piece right side out through the opening. Fold the edges of the fabric in a 1/2-inch along the opening, then iron the entire piece flat. Sew around the double-sided fabric panel with a 1/4-inch seam allowance.
- 4). Place the fabric panel on your work surface -- vertically oriented -- with the chenille side facing up. Fold the bottom edge of the panel up 6 inches. Pin the folded portion in place. Sew the folded portion along the left and right sides, sewing over the previous seam. Remove the pins as you sew.
- 5). Cut a 3-inch-long piece from both halves -- the hook and the loop -- of 1-inch-wide fastener tape. Attach one half of the fastener tape -- it doesn't matter which half -- 1 inch below the top edge of the pocket you just created, centered between the left and right edges. Do this by sewing around the perimeter of the fastener tape. Make sure you only attach the fastener tape to the top layer of the pocket, so you don't sew the pocket closed.
- 6). Attach the other half of the fastener tape to the chenille side of the flap that folds down over the pocket. Center the tape between the left and right edges and 1 inch below its top edge.
