The spine comprises of the spinal nerves which is protected by a gel like substance in between the spinal cord disc. Ample Rest

For a low intensity herniated disc, this form of treatment is recommended. Ample rest allows the body to get the rest it requires while ensuring that the body heals on its own. In addition to this, resting allows the body to direct its resources to the affected part, allowing it to heal faster as compared to an individual who is constantly moving. Through this process, you will spend less time recovering, thereby allowing you to get back to your daily life faster.

Hot and cold therapy

This form of therapy treatment is deal to primarily relieve the pain and promoting the process of healing. If there is any pain in the affected area, it is because of the pressure on the nerve caused by swelling. A cold pad will reduce the pressure on the affected area thereby reducing the pain. The hot pad will expand the muscles in the affected area and promote the blood flow to the area. This allows all the necessary nutrients to reach the affected part and promote the healing process and health growth. Alternate use of the hot and cold pad will reduce the pressure and pain while improving the healing progress.

Pain killers

For some individuals, the pain from the herniated disc can cause intense pain, thereby hindering the process of healing. At times, the pain will be so unbearable that individual can be in a constant state of distress which in turn, will affect the whole body. Pain killers will reduce the effects of the pain thereby allowing the individual to opt for any of the above treatments to heal the affected area.

Medication to reduce inflammation

Certain herniated disc is extremely painful and requires medication to reduce the pain caused my inflammation. Oral medication like oral steroids will reduce the pain by reducing the inflammation. Specialists will only recommend this type of treatment if the extent of the herniation is extremely high.
