How to Construct a Charcoal Grill
- 1). Decide on the location for your charcoal grill, away from the house, any trees or flammable materials.
- 2). Dig a circular hole large enough to fit the large metal tire rim. The hole should also be deep enough to fit the entire rim in, roughly five or six inches. The soil should cover the entire rim once it's placed into the hole.
- 3). Place the tire rim into the hole and pat the soil tightly around the perimeters to secure it in place.
- 4). Place large landscaping rocks around the perimeters of the rim for decoration.
- 5). Wet the soil inside the charcoal grill using a garden hose. Press the soil down with your hands to make it completely level.
- 6). Cover the floor of the charcoal grill with ready-light charcoal and ignite with a match. Allow the coals to burn for 10 to 15 minutes until hot and the fire has burned down.
- 7). Place the grill grate on top of the tire rim. The grate should be roughly one inch larger in diameter than the rim. This will make sure that the grate rests securely on top of the rim. Arrange food on top of your new charcoal grill. Grill the food until cooked through and tender.
