- 1). Locate your phone's IMEI number, which is a unique identity code given to each device. Press "Options," and "Status" from the BlackBerry Curve's home screen. If you do not see "Options" on the home screen, press "Settings" first, then click on "Options" and "Status." Write down the numbers listed next to "IMEI."
- 2). Obtain your device's unlock code. Dial "611" to reach your mobile provider. Tell the provider that you need the phone's unlock code. Be prepared to tell the agent why you want to unlock the phone, such as pending international travel plans. If the agent will not give the code to you, purchase one from an online provider such as BlackBerryFaq.com, which is listed in the References section below. Be prepared to enter your name, address and payment information to receive the code.
- 3). Enter the unlock code on your device. Press "Settings," "Options," "Advanced Options" and "Sim Card." Type "MEPD." No text will appear after you type these letters. Then type "MEP" and press the "ALT" button. Press the number "2" on the keyboard. You will see "Enter Network MEP Code." Type the unlock code and press the trackball to confirm the entry. The device is now unlocked.
