If you are a person who is diabetic staying away from certain foods is good, but because a certain item does not have high carbohydrates or a high sugar content it can still be very harmful to you.
Here are three foods which are to be avoided by people with diabetes.
No sugar added ice cream, these ice creams with the labels that mark no sugar added are sweetened which a type of sugar called alcohol sugar.
And it is true that these alcohol sugars don't raise the blood sugar like natural sugars, but the total levels are the same amount.
And a small serving of sugar free ice cream can give a person up to 100 calories, and this is 50 percent more than a slice of bread.
Therefore about two large scoops equal to about 400 calories or a twenty five percent of the calories that you need for the day, another thing is that alcohol sugars give loose bowels.
And as well no sugar candies should be avoided until special events because of the same reason.
Next up is sugar free soda and this will not raise your blood sugar but it will have other major effects on your body.
Some of these sodas are high in sodium and can raise the blood pressure which is very bad for a diabetic patient, and also some of the cola drinks are high caffeine and can cause palpitations, insomnia and anxiety.
The acid level that these drinks carry can damage the enamel on your teeth and also stain it like coffee, this is not harmful is small amounts but most diabetic patient's intake a lot of this product.
