Before decimalization in 1971, the Pound divided into several smaller currencies, including "crowns," "sovereigns," "farthings," and "guineas." Today, one Pound divides into 100 Pence.

The dollar, which features a portrait of George Washington, subdivides into 4 quarters, 10 dimes, 20 nickels, or 100 pennies.
