Information on the Camaro SS SLP
- Only 500 Camaro SLP models will be built, and they will be sequentially numbered. Their body styles will be either the coupe or convertible. The ZL 560 models will be equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission and a super-charged L99 V-8 engine. The ZL 585 model will be equipped with a six-speed manual transmission and a super-charged LS3 V-8 engine. According to SLP Camaro.com, the cars will be available in any factory color.
- The supercharger is the heart of the engine. It is SLP's 2300 series TVS. This supercharger features a four lobe rotor pack which yields higher and efficiency. The supercharger increases the power output of automatic transmission equipped L99 from 400 to 560 horsepower and the stock LS3 manual transmission engine from 426 to 585 horsepower. Hence the number designation in the series names the ZL 560 and the ZL 585 respectfully. The is the same supercharger used in the ZR-1 Chevrolet Corvette, according to SLP's website.
- SLP will replace the Camaro's factory air intake with its Blackwing Air Induction System. The benefit, according to SLP, will be a noticeable power gain. The induction system features a polypropylene intake tube and a high flow Blackwing filter.
- SLP will offer two optional Brembo brake upgrades for the ZL Camaros. Brembo brake systems replace the factory rotors and are compatible with the ABS and traction control systems. The Brembo Sport Disc package offers improved braking efficiency over the factory braking system. This is achieved by offering a more efficient out-gassing of the brake pads and a strong bite of the pads to the brake rotors. Reduction of brake fade is also a benefit with this package. The Brembo GT Front Brake Package offers an increased pad area than conventional disc brakes. The thermal capacity is increased over the factory brake pads. ZL Camaros with this feature will have a powertrain control module which limits the top speed of the car to 190 MPH. The factory top speed is 150 MPH.
- The ZL Camaros carry a three-year, 36,000-mile warranty on SLP-installed parts, and the rest of the car is covered by GM. The ZL 560 and ZL 585 packages must be ordered through a U.S. or Canadian Chevrolet dealer at the time of purchase. This will keep both warranties in force. The ZL Camaros are certified to operate legally in all 50 states. According to InsideLine.com, pricing for a fully equipped 2011 Camaro SS SLP will be $67,105.
