Traditional Bridal Shower Party Games

Bridal showers are traditionally fun-filled afternoons with plenty of gifts, good food, and party games.
Often on the silly side, the games and activities can add to the lively spirit of the shower.
This is a look at traditional bridal shower party games.
Probably the silliest of all bridal shower games is the toilet paper bride.
This is a great activity for a large group of ladies.
Split the guests into several teams, and arm each one with nothing but a roll of toilet paper (and maybe some tape).
Within a set time limit, each team is challenged to create a bridal gown on one woman out of nothing but the toilet paper.
Hilarity ensues as the groups race to craft the most fashionable wedding gown possible using the humble material.
Bonus points are definitely awarded to the team which makes special details out of the paper, like rosettes for the dress or a pearl necklace out of bath tissue to adorn their "bride".
At the end of the time limit, the bride-to-be picks her favorite dress and the winning team is awarded a small prize.
A great traditional bridal shower game is a questionnaire to see which guest knows the bride best.
The host of the shower makes the customized quiz (and since she has the answers, she would not participate in the game).
Guests are handed a paper with many questions about the bride, and they are challenged to answer them and see which among them can answer the most questions correctly.
Quiz topics might include how the bride and groom met, the bride's favorite color, what sport she played in high school, and any other personal details that the host can come up that are fit to share in a large group.
The game can be tailored to the guests somewhat, in that certain questions might be hilarious to include if the shower consists of close friends only, as opposed to a multi-generational party with relatives.
One of the funniest bridal quiz questions I ever heard was one about the worst boyfriend the bride ever had before becoming engaged to Mr.
Right.
It opened up quite a lively debate! Kitchen theme games are also quite traditional for bridal showers.
A simple classic activity is for the host to take a pan of assorted kitchen utensils around the room.
Each guest may look in the pan for a set amount of time, say 30 seconds, after which she is to write down as many things as she can remember.
Whoever remembers the most items correctly wins the game.
Make it challenging by including utensils beyond the basic spatulas and whisks.
Less ordinary items like egg beaters, candy thermometers, and oyster forks will add to the challenge and help the winner earn her prize.
Word scrambles are a fun bridal shower game as well.
Standard word scrambles or word hunt activities can be found in bridal shower books or online, but it is also quite easy to make your own.
Give your word game a wedding theme, with phrases like pearl necklace, bouquet, bridal gown, and fiance for guests to seek or unscramble.
You can slip in some silly words if you like, such as bridezilla, if the group would find it amusing.
Bridal shower games definitely make the party extra fun.
While they are not for everyone, there is something sweet about the traditional games.
Why not add some fun to the next bridal shower you plan with some of these great traditional activities?
