    • 1). Determine what qualities or requirements you have of a roommate. Examples may include a specific gender, quiet, clean, studious, fun and pet- or child-friendly. Write down your list of requirements for future reference on a piece of paper with a pen or pencil.

    • 2). Open a new document in your favorite word processing program on your computer, and write an ad for a roommate. Include a description of your desired qualities in your roommate as well as a phone number or email address where you can be reached.

    • 3). Post your ad on websites that include a roommate wanted section. If you post on national websites, list your posting in the section for Atlanta and mention you are located in Kennesaw (see Resources).

    • 4). Find local spots to place your ad, too, such as the bulletin boards at Kennesaw's campuses. Kennesaw State University has a housing bulletin board located on the Carmichael Student Center's second floor expressly for this purpose.

    • 5). Print out the number of ads you plan to post locally plus five, in case you need more.

    • 6). Post the ads on bulletin boards using a thumb tack or stapler. Make sure you get permission first.

    • 7). Search for a roommate on the websites you posted your listing on. Contact any posters that seem like good potential roommates.

    • 8). Mention to friends, family and work colleagues that you are looking for a roommate. Share your roommate requirements and let them know how you would like potential roommates to contact you.

    • 9). Remove your ads on and offline once you find a roommate.
