    Winter Activities

    • Chronicle your family's favorite winter events on scrapbook layouts featuring photos and memorabilia. In addition to pictures of family members participating in activities such as winter sports, snow days home from school, snow shoveling sessions or your community's winter carnival, include text on pieces of card stock that describes the events and how each family member feels about participating.

Attach pictures and text to card stock background pages in shades that coordinate with your photos, and then embellish the pages with accents such as snowflake die cuts, holiday stickers or rubber-stamped designs. Attach an acid-free envelope that coordinates the page with double-sided tape as a place to hold corresponding memorabilia such as ticket stubs, receipts, flyers or business cards.

    Holiday Traditions

    • Preserve your family's winter holiday traditions in seasonal scrapbooks. Create pages that showcase your family choosing a Christmas tree, shopping for gifts, caroling in the neighborhood, making cookies, decorating your home or taking an annual trip on Christmas vacation, for example. In addition to pictures of family members, ensure you capture images of inanimate objects such as heirloom tree ornaments, a batch of fresh-baked gingerbread cookies or the steaming mugs of hot chocolate that your family enjoys while chatting by the fireplace. Ask each family member to write a paragraph for the layouts discussing each tradition and how the activities solidify your family bonds.

    Holiday Cards

    • Create scrapbook pages that showcase the favorite cards you received during the winter holidays. Affix the cards directly to the card stock background with a glue stick or double-sided tape. You can also attach a picture of each card's sender below or beside the card.

If you'd rather not attach the cards to your scrapbook pages, create a pocket to hold a variety of mailings by cutting a piece of card stock or patterned paper so it's 5 inches shorter and 1 inch narrower than the background page. Place double-sided foam tape along the sides and bottom and press the "pocket" across the bottom of the page.

    Changing Seasons

    • Document the beautiful changes in the natural elements around your home as fall changes into winter and winter transforms into spring. Take pictures of your garden, the foliage at local parks or the new season's offerings at your favorite nursery. Add text that describes your feelings about winter or fill the space around the images with famous quotes, poems or song lyrics about the seasons.
