How to Give a 25th Wedding Anniversary Party
- 1). Set a budget. This will dictate the rest of the process. Knowing how much you have to work with will give you an idea of what kind of party you can afford.
- 2). Choose between a formal party or an informal party. A formal party will require greater detail in the planning and will likely require a venue such as a restaurant or catering hall as opposed to someone's house. It will likely cost more depending on the venue, as you will be paying a price per head as opposed to making the food and serving drinks on your own.
- 3). Select a theme. The 25th wedding anniversary is known as the "Silver Anniversary," so decorating everything in silver is a good way to start. You also want to personalize it to the couple as much as possible. For example, if they honeymooned in Hawaii, consider throwing a luau-style party. Or if they are baseball fans and he proposed at a game, throw a baseball-themed party.
- 4). Book the venue. If you are having the party at a restaurant, contact the catering manager and go over your plans. They will give you a price quote and payment schedule. Typically, you will have to make a deposit, followed by one or two more payments prior to the event, with the final payment being a few days before the party.
- 5). Send out invitations. Be very specific as to the date, time and the theme, if any. Note whether it is a formal or informal event, so guests can come appropriately dressed. Be sure to indicate clearly if it is going to be a surprise or not. You don't want someone spilling the secret to the couple before the party. Clearly list the person to whom the guests need to RSVP.
- 6). Purchase decorations. Make them appropriate to the theme. If it is a sports-themed party, do not worry about the silver motif. Work within the constraints of your budget. If you are throwing a party at a house, you can get inexpensive decorations at most party stores.
- 7). Set up well before guests arrive. You want them to be able to get right into enjoying the party without waiting for the appetizers or drinks to be put out. If you are having it at a restaurant or catering hall, get there well before the couple to make sure everything is running smoothly by the time they arrive.
