- 1). Identify the first and last name of the person you need to find. Also, if you can, find the person's city or town of residence. Then navigate to online telephone directories by using the links in the Resources section of this article. Type the first and last name of the person into the relevant fields and click "Search." If you know the town where the person lives, you can narrow your search.
- 2). Search for the person on popular social networking sites, such as Facebook or LinkedIn. To be able to contact the person, however, you will need to register.
- 3). Visit local government offices and libraries. Search through archived newspapers, birth, marriage and death certificates. You can also ask the police for suggestions of what you can do to find the person. Be prepared, however, to answer question as to why you need to find the person.
- 4). Do a genealogy search on websites such as Ancestry.com (Netherlands). You can search by first and last name.
- 5). Post a search ad on Lost Trekkers, a website that allows people to find others they have lost contact with. Creating an ad is free, as is searching for people and replying to existing ads.
