Simvastatin Will Cause Regression of Coronary Atherosclerosis
Jensen and his colleagues studied the regression of coronary atheromatous lesions in patients who took simvastatin. They used intravascular ultrasound to obtain their measurements.
They studied 40 male patients with coronary atherosclerosis at 3 months after beginning a lipid-lowering diet and at 12 months after starting 40 mg/day simvastatin.
The clinical researchers observed a significant decrease in the atheromatous lesions 12 months after starting the patients on simvastatin.
