labonnesoupe.com - Tartine is a tiny restaurant located in the heart of New York's West Village. In fact, it's so small, that people with their names on the waiting list have to line up outside because there isn't enough room to form a line inside. NY Magazine's restaurant critic says that the delicious food is worth the wait. Try the quiche du jour or tarte du juor for brunch or lunch, and conclude your meal with the tarte tatin a la mode for dessert. There is no bar at this restaurant, but diners can bring their own beer or wine.

212-229-2611 - Macaron Cafe is designed to appeal particularly to women. All of the walls are painted in a different shade of pink, and are accented with polka dots. The menu has a wide selection of French salads (like Nicoise) and sandwiches (like croque monsieur). But the most popular items on the menu are the pastel-hued macarons that are suspended from the ceiling in a glass case. They come in several flavors, including honey and lavender, chocolate and almond. There aren't many seats, so be prepared to wait if you want to dine in. Otherwise, order your food to go and enjoy it at your home, hotel or the office. Sandwiches and salads are reasonably priced at less than $10 each, as of April 2010. Macarons cost $1.95 each and can be purchased in sets in decorative boxes.
