The word "equine" is a Latin word which means a person or someone which resembles horse in appearance or characteristics, or in description of horses. Thus an equine therapy is a therapy which uses horses for providing personal and emotional growth of a person.

Though equine therapy is a new concept and is not popular among the people, but it tends to prove beneficial. The people who applied this therapy tends to show commendable change in their personality like the confidence, impressive communication skills, self dependent, trust , they become spiritually and socially connected and many more.

This therapy works on a concept that youth can be taught like we teach horses. In this therapy initially the instructor teach the student that how to deal with the horse to get it out of one particular circle without touching him. The student tries to clap or make sound to get notice by the horse, but this is not the right way of calling someone or to get noticed by someone. As being an human being our parents or friends never call us by clapping or making necessary sounds in front of us. Thus by this exercise student tends to learn how to deal with or lead a horse.

It not only teaches us how to lead a horse but this therapy also teaches us how to take care of a horse and how to groom him. For the safety of all of the participants it is compulsory for everyone participant to wear helmet while doing equine therapy.

One of the best benefits of equine therapy is that a person deals with the horse, which is only concern about how you act in present, and not about your past or future. Thus how we deal with our horse basically reflects our nature and behaviour, and teaches us that how our actions can affect our near and dear ones.
