What to Wear on a Cruises Formal Night on Royal Caribbean
- As a general rule, the longer the cruise, the more formal nights. Royal Caribbean's short cruises (five days or less) have only one formal night, while those six days or longer have two or three. You will receive notification in your cabin the night before a formal night.
- Women should wear cocktail dresses or more formal gowns, with appropriate accompanying accessories and shoes. Men have a choice between a suit and tie or a tuxedo. The dress code only applies to the formal dining rooms and specialty restaurants. Those not wishing to dress up may still have dinner in casual attire at one of the buffets.
- Men who want to wear a tux but don't want to bring one from home can rent one from the cruise line.
- Many cruisers use formal night as the opportunity to have portraits taken. Royal Caribbean has photographers stationed around the ship if you'd like a picture. Ship photographers will also stop by your table during dinner if you'd like a picture in a more relaxed setting.
