    • 1). Mark the cuts by using the tape measure to find dimensions from the nearest immovable surface, like a wall. Measure from the cut location to the wall and make a mark with the chalk. Continue measuring from the wall along the proposed cutline and make marks. Connect all the marks with the chalk.

    • 2). Mark any additional cuts by pulling dimensions from the line marked in Step 1. Connect all the marks with lines, using the chalk, so the cut areas are clearly defined.

    • 3). Connect the garden hose to the saw and adjust water flow to the blade according to the manufacturer's instructions.

    • 4). Start the saw and place the blade in line with the first cut. Squeeze the trigger to maximum, and slowly lower the blade into the concrete by applying pressure and feeling for when the saw is cutting well with the least amount of pressure. Maintain a consistent pressure, letting the saw cut into the concrete until it breaks through the bottom. Watch for dirt, mud or gravel to surface as an indicator.

    • 5). Move the saw forward, following the lines and cutting all the way to the bottom of the concrete as you go. Cut half the saw blade's diameter beyond corners in both directions so the cuts will make it through to the bottom of the concrete.
