Kiteboarding: What Is Important

103 16
Are you already, or are you interested in becoming a Kiteboarder? If so there is just one short message i would like to share with you regarding equipment and preparation.
Naturally you would feed yourself a good meal before a long hike.
Likewise, you would feed your pet water after a walk.
These are common sense activities.
Well in kiteboarding the common is not so much sense.
Because there is more than one way to do everything in this sport people believe that there is not one correct way.
No matter your belief on that issue, I am about to teach you one simple truth that nobody can attest.
If you do not have the kite skills you will not progress.
With this nugget of truth in mind let us explore, briefly, how to end up with the kite skills you need.
You need equipment that is right for you.
Do not buy a high performance kite until you have beat up at least one beginner style kite.
I don't mean a trainer kite, although they are great for practice.
I mean a slow moving, stable, easy to relaunch inflatable kite.
The slow moving kite is just what a beginner needs to identify and learn how the handle various common control issues.
It is kind of like learning math.
If you don't have the foundation of the easy equations then you will not be able to solve the more complex problems.
If you do not learn how to control a user friendly kite then a high performance kite will not perform well under your instruction.
Remember, it is the flier and not the kite that makes mistakes.
So you know to buy a nice learning kite like the Best Kahoona.
Comfortable harness is key.
The Harness is what transfers the power of the kite through your body.
If you do not have a good fitting or comfortable harness it can be a bummer learning how to fly the kite.
When choosing the right harness try on many.
It is kind of like buying a pair of shoes, there are brands and models for everybody, but the same shoe is not made for everybody.
You need to shop around and wear a few pairs in the store so you can try to accurately assess how they will perform out in the streets.
Buying a harness is the same.
You need it to fit snug but not be binding.
You need it to feel like it is not in thew way or causing you pain.
The most common complaint from beginners is "my harness rides up.
" I know they do, it happens to me.
I shopped around for a year, but when i finally found a harness that fit I snatched it up right away.
Not having harness blues will help you focus on the task at hand, flying a kite.
A final note; spend time on the beach flying a kite without the board.
Go out into the water and spend time body dragging without the board.
You will learn faster if you focus on what is important.
And believe me the only three things that are truly important are these, a good kite for your skill level, a comfortable harness, and the knowledge that mastering the kite is mastering the sport.
