    Inattentive

    • The inattentive characteristics of ADD are making careless mistakes, not paying attention to surroundings, not following instructions, losing items and becoming easily distracted. A person with inattentive ADD will find any detailed, time-consuming task very difficult.

    Hyperactivity

    • The hyperactivity characteristics of ADD are fidgeting, lack of patience, excessive talking, squirming, repetitive motions such as tapping or snapping and feeling restless. A person with hyperactivity ADD finds it nearly impossible to sit still or wait.

    Impulsive

    • The impulsive characteristics of ADD include a lack of restraint, blurting out or interrupting others, acting out with no regard for others and an inability to focus on the long term. A person with impulsive ADD will find it difficult to think before acting or to curb responses and reactions.
