Patio furniture is a furniture group like no other.
 Most patio furniture is made of weather resistant woods like cedar or teak.
 When you discuss patio furniture styles, there are several categories, one of which is log furniture.
 When you see log furniture, you know it's log furniture.
 Instead of a log being turned into lumber, its shaped and fitted as an entire piece of the tree limb, hence the log furniture.
 Cedar logs of various diameters are fairly plentiful here in the United States.
 But that's not necessarily true of teak wood of any quantity.
 Teak is mostly, if not entirely, imported.
 And the majority of imported teak is in the form of lumber for boat building.
  Let's compare a cedar log patio settee to a teak patio glider.
 The cedar log settee is a heavy, rustic, clunky piece of furniture that looks like it will last a lifetime.
 On the other hand, the teak glider can be built from thin slats of beautifully grained wood that will last a lifetime, without appearing to be so tough and resistant to weather.
 There is a tough, hard pine that is used to build patio furniture, as well as oak and hickory.
 But when it comes to ideal rustic patio furniture preferred wood, it's cedar, hands down.
  Engineering a piece of log furniture is almost a lost art.
 The pieces, or logs, must be of a diameter to be strong and supportive, but not overly large and out of proportion.
 The design must consist of pieces, or logs, that support each other and the total load of a person's weight if it's a piece of furniture to sit or lay on.
 And who wants a chair they can't lift or move easily?
