How to Cover Wing Tips With MonoKote
- 1). Cut the excess MonoKote covering from the wing of your RC plane with a razor knife. If the wing does not have any excess MonoKote, hold a piece of MonoKote on the last wooden rib of the wing. Make an outline of the rib onto the piece of MonoKote with a fine-tipped permanent marker.
- 2). Lay the marked MonoKote on a firm, flat surface. Align the French curve 1/4 inch past the traced rib of the airplane wing. Draw a second line along the French curve with a fine-tipped marker.
- 3). Cut the MonoKote along the line you drew along the French curve with a razor knife.
- 4). Push the trim tip onto the heating iron. Plug in and turn on the heat gun.
- 5). Hold the cut piece of MonoKote on the end of the wing with the black line aligned with the last rib of the wing. Run the heated trim tip of the heat gun along the edge of the piece of MonoKote to tack the coating in place. Allow the tacked area to cool for at least one hour.
- 6). Flip the wing over, pull the MonoKote covering tight and trim the excess MonoKote from the wing tip.
- 7). Tack the loose end of the MonoKote to the wing with the heat gun and trim tip.
- 8). Exchange the trim tip of the heat gun with a covering tip.
- 9). Heat the MonoKote around the wingtip with the heat gun and covering tip. The MonoKote will shrink around the compound curve of the wingtip.

Cover the other wingtip using the process described earlier.
