How to Connect a Monitor to a Mini Acer
- 1). Connect a VGA cord to the monitor's VGA socket. Most Acer netbooks use VGA outputs, but if yours has a DVI, HDMI or other output, use that variety of plug instead. Some monitors have built-in cords and require no additional cable.
- 2). Turn the netbook off, connect the other end of the cord to the VGA socket on your netbook.
- 3). Turn the monitor and netbook on.
- 4). If your Acer runs Windows XP, open the Display options in the Control Panel and Click the "Settings" tab. For Windows 7 users, choose "Adjust Screen Resolution" in the Appearance and Personalization menu. The Windows Vista options are located in the "Personalize" menu found by right clicking on the desktop.
- 5). Press the "Detect" button if the monitor did not automatically display.
- 6). Select the monitor in the display area. If necessary, click the "Identify" button to display the monitor number on each screen and correctly identify the monitor.
- 7). Select what you want the monitor to display from the "Multiple Displays" drop-down menu in Windows 7, or the "Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor" check-box in XP and Vista.
- 8). Click "OK" or "Apply" to save your settings.
