    • Palmcheck technology determines if contact with the touchpad on your laptop is intentional or not, according to TechSpot.com. If you accidentally touch or tap on the touchpad in a way that signals that you are not intentionally using it, the Palmcheck feature will recognize it and disable cursor movement.

    Sensitivity

    • You can adjust the sensitivity of the Palmcheck feature by navigating to the mouse settings in your Windows-based laptop.

    Testing

    • You can test the Palmcheck sensitivity settings without closing out the mouse settings, according to a Synaptics news release published on ThomasNet.com. This will save you time in resetting the feature if you find it is too sensitive for your liking.

    Release

    • Synaptics released the Palmcheck feature in 2006 with the release of its updated drivers for Windows Vista.
