Troubleshooting a Business Inkjet 2300
- 1). Make sure the power cord is connected to the printer if the printer will not turn on. Insert the cord fully into the connector on the printer and into the outlet.
- 2). Ensure the interface cable is securely attached if the printer will not respond to print commands. Ensure the USB or parallel cable is securely attached to both the printer and the computer.
- 3). Print a configuration page to show printer information. The configuration page will show the connection settings and a log of recent events, which may help diagnose problems. Press the select button on the printer control panel. Press the down arrow until "Information" is displayed. Press the select button. Press the down arrow until "Print Configuration" is displayed. Press the select button to print the configuration page.
- 4). Check the control panel if the attention light is flashing. If a message is displayed, it may indicate a potential problem. If no message is displayed, turn the printer off. Wait a few seconds and turn the printer back on.
- 5). Clean the print heads if printouts are missing sections or lines are incomplete. Dried out printheads could be preventing ink from flowing through. Press the select button on the printer control panel. Press the down arrow until "Maintenance" is highlighted. Press the select button. Press the down arrow until "Print Quality" is highlighted. Press the select button. Press the down arrow to highlight "Clean Printheads." Press the select button.
- 6). Align the printheads if printed lines have jagged edges or if printouts have stray dots. Press the select button on the printer control panel. Press the down arrow until "Maintenance" is highlighted. Press the select button. Press the down arrow to highlight "Print Quality." Press the select button. Press the down arrow until "Align Printheads" is highlighted. Press the select button. The printer prints a page with alignment patterns when it is done.
- 7). Replace the ink cartridge if the control panel displays a message that includes the words "Replace Ink Cartridge," "Ink Cartridge Empty," "Ink Cartridge Expired," or "Unknown Ink Cartridge." The message will indicate if the cartridge that needs to be replaced is color or black.
- 8). Clear jammed paper out of the printer if there is a paper jam. Remove all paper from the output tray. Remove the tray if the paper jam is located there. Pull the paper away from the printer to clear it from the unit. Check Tray 2. If the jam is in Tray 2, remove that tray to access the jam. Turn the printer off. Open the top cover for any remaining jammed paper. Pull any jammed paper toward you through the top of the printer. Close the printer and turn it back on.
