How to Retrieve a 2007 Tax Return ASAP

1). Obtain a copy of the Internal Revenue Service Form 4506 Request for Copy of Tax Return or Form 4506-T Request for Transcript of Tax Return. Copies of these forms can be obtained from the Internal Revenue Service's website (see Resources) or by calling 800-829-1040 and requesting the forms be sent to your mailing address. Obtaining the forms through the Internet significantly speeds up the process for obtaining copies of past tax returns.
2). Fill out the Internal Revenue Service form completely. Be sure to include your full name, your spouse's full name if you filed jointly, plus birth dates and Social Security numbers. If your address has changed since the 2007 tax return was originally filed, also include your new mailing address and telephone number. Enter "2007" for the year of the tax return of which you need a copy.
3). Include a check or money order for $57 payable to "United States Treasury," and mail the form and fee to the address indicated at the bottom of the form.
