  A visit to Lutsk, Ukraine, is an adventure into the past. Archeologists have found evidence that the site of the city was used 15,000 years ago by Paleolithic humans, and the actual city was likely founded sometime around 1000. Today, the area is part of the Volyn Region in northwest Ukraine. The main attraction in Lutsk is the Upper Castle, built in the 14th century. Seventeenth-century churches and temples require a sightseeing stop as well. The entire Volyn Region offers historic sites, including the ancient orthodox cathedral in Volodymyr Volynskyy. If overloaded with historic and ancient sites, the area has an idyllic picturesque landscape.
  
  While there are hotel options in Lutsk, none are considered youth hostels. Ranging from updated, but pricey on a student budget, to inexpensive, but old-fashioned, Lutsk hotels offer a traveler a true taste of Ukraine.

  Actually a hotel, but Hotel Ukraina is easily the best accommodation option in Lutsk. Refurbished, standard rooms are available for reasonable prices. There's a restaurant in the hotel, and it's in the center of town.

Hotel Svityaz

  This hotel is centrally located, and at least one floor provides recently remodeled rooms, referred to as "semi-deluxe." These semi-deluxe rooms are newer and nicer than the standard rooms and even the fully deluxe options the hotel has. The rest of the hotel qualifies as "dark and dingy," according to Lonely Planet.
