The Most Magical Place on Earth!
Walt Disney World first opened in 1971. It started as one theme park, two luxurious resorts, and one campground-themed site. Located in the heart of central Florida, Disney is made up of four unique theme parks, two relaxing water parks, and much more.
According to the June 2011 AECOM Theme Park Attendance Report, Disney's Magic Kingdom is rated number one worldwide with nearly seventeen million visits! An astonishing number of people gather from all over the world to experience the fun and magic here.
Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Disney's Animal Kingdom are the four theme parks and main attractions at Disney. Each theme park is based on something different and is sure to provide fun for the entire family.
The Magic Kingdom is ranked number one worldwide for excellent cause: it is absolutely magical! The fun starts the moment you walk in the gated entrance of the park. The Cinderella castle is the major landmark and can be seen from practically any point of the park. At the castle you can have meals with the princesses and even spot Tinkerbell floating from the top of the tower! Musical parades through the street remind you that you are not at just any park. Stay late and enjoy a fabulous fireworks show with some of the greatest views from resort balconies.
Epcot is known for the cultural festivities. At Epcot you can enjoy shopping and dining from eleven different countries. The park sits on twice as much land as Magic Kingdom giving a ton of space to explore and immerse yourself into another €country€ and culture. Mexico, United Kingdom, China, Norway and Italy are just a few to encounter. Epcot's major landmark is the giant golf ball-shaped ride called Spaceship Earth. This ride explains the basis of Walt Disney's ideas and also gives a short glimpse of the past, present, and future.
Disney's Hollywood Studios, previously named MGM studios, is a Hollywood themed park. The famous Mickey Sorcerer's hat is the park's landmark. With live entertainment, Pixar Place, and Hollywood Boulevard, this park is the most entertainment based. Watch a stunt show, a live interactive Playhouse Disney show, and get an inside look at the Disney animation process. At the end of the night enjoy a spectacular show of fireworks, laser lights, and waterworks called €Fantasmic!€.
Disney's Animal Kingdom was opened in 1998 and was the last of the four created. Out of all the theme parks, this one is the largest sitting on an overwhelming five hundred acres of land. The Animal Kingdom is an animal lover's dream land and can be easily identified by the enormous tree landmark. The park focuses on ancient animals, today's animals, and animals of the future. At Animal Kingdom be sure to stop in for a bite to eat at the Rainforest Caf©. This restaurant is a tropical forest decorated with exotic fish tanks, animals throughout, jungle noises, and fog lingering in the air.
