Parenting is raising a child from birth to adulthood.
Studies and research have been performed and shown that positive or negative traits in a child, from any early age to adulthood, all stem from each individuals early experiences and upbringing.
Those, such as teachers, pediatricians, child care providers, etc.
all play a role in parenting our children.
What should I do as a parent? By spending quality time with your children, you are creating a bond and trust that greatly impacts the way they grow up.
When parents neglect spending time with their children, there is a negative impact.
As a result, children can hold resentment towards a parent , look for other role models, lose interest in activities including school and social events.
On the other hand, spending quality time with you children fosters a positive impact and higher learning curves and attention in both school and social environments.
What can I give to my children? You can give your children the quality of your time.
Give them the freedom to explore a vast array of activities such as sports, art, reading, hobbies, etc...
With your guidance and involvement, you will see your children develop their own talents and personalities that will make you proud of them and of yourself as a parent.
Many different people are involved with your child's progress, but it is you that will make the biggest impact in their growth and well being long into adulthood.
How do I know I'm making a positive impact? One of the joys of parenthood is seeing your child grow through the trials and turbulences of adolescence into adulthood.
Being a parent may be one of the hardest endeavors you ever partake in, it can sometimes seam like a 24 hour a day, 7 days a week job.
But it is those precious moments that make it so worth the time and effort.
You also really know your child well.
When they are feeling sick you're the one that makes them well, when they are sad, you are there to pick them up.
If your not sure your making a positive impact on them, then sit down and really think, you know your child better than anyone else, you will find the inside within yourself.
And finally don't be too hard on your self! We are all the worse critics of ourselves.
Doesn't help to beat yourself up over situations you can't control, even the best parents make mistakes.
It takes hard work and effort to raise children.
With effort and quality time we as parents can help mold our children in a positive way though boundaries and keeping an open mind.
By always learning and teaching we are making ourselves and our children good role models for many generations to come.
