Definition: The plan describing how the parents will be involved in their children's life. A parenting plan usually describes the children's schedule and describes which parent will make decisions about various things in the children's life. After reviewing the parenting plan, the judge will determine the legal custody and physical custody arrangements for the children. Parenting plans address the needs of children of different ages.

A parenting plan may need to be changed if parents move or their circumstances change.
