There are a number of sleeping disorders affecting the lives of people today.
We will explore just a few of the sleeping disorder symptoms that indicate the presence of one or more of these disorders in people.
Insomnia Among sleeping disorder symptoms, insomnia is probably the most common.
Insomnia refers to the condition where people find difficulty in falling asleep after going to bed.
They might also find difficulty in having an undisturbed sleep.
They might awaken often from sleep or wake up much earlier than normal waking hours.
Insomnia can sometimes be a symptom of another underlying problem.
Sleep Apnea The symptoms of Sleep apnea include an excessive amount of sleepiness during the day.
Even if people suffering from sleep apnea do not sometimes feel sleepy, they might still find themselves extremely exhausted and fatigued.
While sleeping at night, they would most often snore or make gasping sounds, which they may not be aware of.
They might sometimes wake up gasping for breath.
This would give rise to inadequate rest at night, leaving them sleepy during the daytime.
Narcolepsy The symptoms of narcolepsy include sudden bouts of sleepiness, hallucinations while going to sleep or waking, and loss of control in one's muscles, which is called cataplexy.
Cataplexy can occur when people have intense emotions such as laughter or anger.
People suffering from narcolepsy might also experience sleep paralysis as they are sinking into sleep or waking from sleep.
Sleep apnea and narcolepsy are less common sleeping disorder symptoms, but narcolepsy in particular can sometimes have dangerous consequences.
If a person suddenly goes to sleep while driving or doing some other activity involving a machine, it can be disastrous.
Restless Leg Syndrome People having restless leg syndrome often find themselves with an irresistible urge as soon as they get to bed, to move their legs.
They might also feel twitching sensations in their legs.
They would also be involuntarily moving or kicking their legs while asleep or sometimes even when they are wide awake.
