In Search of the Best Coffee in the World

First, people are often looking for the best tasting coffee in the world.
Nonetheless, there are many great tasting coffees in the world.
Some people prefer the taste of fresh whole bean Jamaican Blue Mountain.
Others like Colombian.
And there are yet dozens of others.
While taste is important, people also often consider the price of the beans.
If say the coffee were three million dollars a pound few people could afford it or buy it.
So as with most products, there is a sometimes a trade-off between price and quality.
However a high price does not necessarily correlate with high quality.
In fact many of the best tasting coffees are quite affordable.
There are many excellent beans to be had in the $10 a pound and under range.
Now certain types such as Jamaican Blue Mountain can command $40 or more a pound and many people are very pleased with them as well.
Now let's consider availability.
No matter how great a coffee may be, if it is affordable and tastes phenomenal, if it is not available then it does not help us.
Certain coffee beans, and especially blends, are available only seasonally.
So if you find one you especially like, purchasing a small quantity in advance can help fill in the gap.
For example, there is a popular Christmas blend sold by Monks on an island off the coast of Washington state.
But it is available for only a few months per year, so people who like this type of coffee usually order a quantity of it during the availability window.
Generally people prefer whole bean coffee when seeking the best coffee in the world.
It is possible to get good pre-ground coffee although many people feel it lacks a certain character that fresh ground whole bean has.
Some people think pre-ground has more of a coffee vending machine type taste.
Although many vending machines do grind whole bean for each cup served.
However it may not be the finest quality whole bean coffee that is used in the machine.
The reason for this decision to use a sometimes inferior coffee bean in a vending machine is primarily cost.
Vending machine coffee is sold to a price point, and simply does not justify using a top quality bean.
Moreover, in general people are not expecting the best coffee in the world out of a vending machine.
Also, if the machine is not maintained properly by replacing the water filter and cleaning the product passages, the taste may suffer due to calcification in the unit.
