A QI Project to Educate Nurses on Coude Catheter Placement
Descriptive statistics were used to summarize data and evaluate achievement of the learning objectives. Given the small sample size, non-normal distribution of the measurement scores, and concerns with violating the assumptions of multivariate analyses, the measures of the cognitive domain were evaluated using non-parametric statistics (Wilcoxon signed-rank test) to determine if any changes in cognitive knowledge were seen. The measures of the affective domain were summarized with descriptive statistics and content analysis of observations. The psychomotor domain was also analyzed using the median to determine the significance of the intervention on participants' self-reported comfort level with Coudé catheter placement.
