How to Plan a Hawaiian Theme Party
- 1). Invite your guests to wear Hawaiian shirts or dresses. Greet your guests with "Aloha" and give them floral lei as they arrive. Make single flower hair pieces for the women to wear.
- 2). Place tiki lights along the path to the house. Create a nighttime atmosphere with low lighting, tiki torches and candles.
- 3). Place a few imitation palm trees around the room. Hang a large mural of a beach scene on the walls. Use Hawaiian colors of pink, orange and orchid mixed with green. Place silk or fresh flowers including hibiscus, bird of paradise or heliconia, around the room.
- 4). Decorate the room with surfboards, flamingos, ukuleles, maracas, sea shells, tiki masks or bamboo. Attach silk flowers to table decorations and candle holders.
- 5). Play tropical Hawaiian music such as Don Ho, ukulele music, the "Hawaii Five-O" theme song or "Blue Hawaii".
- 6). Invite a hula dance teacher to attend the party and teach your guests the hula. Have several grass skirts available for the guests to wear while learning the hula.
- 7). Hold a limbo contest. Play the limbo song while guests practice their limbo skills.
- 8). Create a Hawaiian themed table. Make a centerpiece out of a pineapple surrounded by Hawaiian flowers such as bird of paradise, orchids and palm leaves. Place baskets of tropical fresh fruit on the table. Decorate the tables with dashboard hula dancers. Make tablecloths out of tropical print fabrics. Use rattan place-mats. Serve the food in wooden bowls and plates. Set the tables with colorful plates and cups.
- 9). Make tropical drinks to serve such as Mai Tai or Cool Blue Hawaiian drinks. Serve the drinks in coconut shells with a paper umbrella.
