If you're asking if thrush is contagious then you've probably got it yourself, or, your partner has it.
Well, yes, thrush is contagious in terms of spreading around your body, and, if you're having regular sex with an infected partner.
Discover here why, and, what you can do about it.
Thrush is also called Yeast Infection or Candida or Candidiasis, and is often used to describe oral yeast infection, especially in babies.
The cause of thrush is a fungi called Candida albicans that you'll find in most of the general population.
But it doesn't normally cause you any problems unless it overgrows and spreads around your body.
It is normally prevented from doing this by your body's 'friendly' bacteria.
Sometimes though, your good bacteria levels are lowered to the point where the Candida can overgrow into an infection.
This is why oral thrush is pretty common among new born babies whose immune systems aren't fully developed.
The Candida fungus especially likes the dark, warm, moist areas of your body such as your gut, your vagina, mouth, anus, etc.
, but it can appear almost any place.
It very often begins in the digestive tract and then spreads to other areas of your body.
Perhaps the most common is vaginal thrush or vaginal yeast infection.
And in men it's penile yeast infection.
So you begin to see why regular sexual intercourse with an infected partner can make thrush contagious.
But let's be clear here; although sex cannot 'cause' thrush, it can 'transfer' it to others.
And so sex, whilst at least one partner has the contagion, means that a cure is hard to get.
And, worse still, sex will keep transferring the contagion back and forth between partners.
So, yes, thrush is contagious.
Your normal everyday medication will consist of drug-based topical creams, etc.
, that you apply directly to the local symptoms.
This can be beneficial, but many women seem to keep getting yeast infections when they come off the drugs, or, their thrush is difficult to eradicate in the first place.
That's why so many now are utilising the great benefits of totally natural remedies for their thrush contagion.
There are simple things like yogurt, tea tree oil, etc.
, but you also have to consider the underlying issues that can help 'trigger' the Candida like; your diet, your general health, any underlying medical conditions, lifestyle issues, hormonal changes, and much more.
