How to Apply Texture With a Roller
- 1). Cover all areas of the floor with plastic or drop cloths. Applying texture with a roller can be messy and could stain carpets or other flooring.
- 2). Dip the roller into the texture and make sure the entire roller is covered in the texture material. The texture will look more even on the wall if the roller is kept full of material. Cover small areas of the wall at a time with each dip into the texture.
- 3). Use the roller in a vertical fashion to cut in the wall nearest the ceiling and the floor first. Cutting in will mitigate the possibility of getting texture on the ceiling and the floor. Even so, some of the texture is going to get on places it should not be. If this happens, wipe it off immediately with a rag soaked in warm water.
- 4). Roll the texture on the main part of the wall after all the cutting in has been done. Roll in straight vertical lines starting at the top and working down in one section at a time.
- 5). Let the texture dry at least 24 hours before painting.
